thats what we're trying to figure out... the default my.tt is set to work with even the most low power hardware, (think NAS, etc) so moonbase setup a tweaked file to unchoke the DB, but his values for it are really just guesses. the danger is the tweaks could outpower someones hardware, but we don't yet have a handle on what thresholds are where.
ultimately, the best solution is for hardware tests to be run during SBS install so the values are dynamically set (as well as library size and artwork calculations), but unless there is a pgm out there that already "knows" how to do that well (to optimize sql for differing hardware), we have to give AndyG datapoints to set different my.tt's based on what installer finds. -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & sbc (my home) / sbr (parent's home) - sbs 7.4.2b - win xp pro sp3 ie8 - p4(ht) 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 - 35k mp3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70371 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
