You can't play music through the device, and also mix in OS sounds (eg. use Wavinput).
Wavinput plugin would allow you to play anything that the soundcard is playing through a Squeezebox player. So, you could play music on your PC, and you'd hear that music and anything else that would normally come out of your desktop speakers. However, that's not a great use of the device. There are some plugins that allow access to POP3 email accounts.
