I have used both Max and iTunes for several years with the various SB
servers. I have never noticed an audible problem with tracks that
either program has ripped completely. However, iTunes has failed to
complete a few tracks out of thousands that Max was able to complete
successfully. Whether that is worth tossing iTunes out for all the
other benefits it offers is simply a matter of choice.

There are many threads here debating the merits of iTunes. Without
addressing those arguments, I think it is safe to say that most people
that actually use iTunes are very happy with it, while those that point
out missing features (FLAC, secure ripping) have a valid point.

I will say however that while the sbooth programs produce good results,
the interfaces take a little getting used to - and crashes are not
uncommon.

In the end, I tend to rip and tag to Apple Lossless with iTunes and
convert downloaded FLACs to Apple Lossless using Max to make things
usable with my iPod.

It would be nice to have mp3tag for the Mac though - very powerful and
easy to use in my experience.
