For a new user/purchaser, I would recommend getting an SB3 (Classic) or waiting for the Touch. The Duet is network needy and if ones WiFi Network is not up to the task it can be frustrating when first starting out.
The Touch or Classic with an iPhone/iTouch running iPeng blows the Sonos away in my opinion. The one and only advantage in my opinion for Sonos is the proprietary network built into the system. One doesn't have to have or setup a home WiFi Network to use Sonos. That is about where the advantage or good of Sonos ends. Their Server has a limit to number of songs it can handle (though most will never reach this, I have exceeded it), the sound quality is slightly lower (and well below the Transporter), one is forced to use their amp or buy other modules, their Controller is bulky, and the system is less flexible and without plugins. -- iPhone *iPhone* Media Room: Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, Vandersteen Speakers: Quatro Mains, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Video: Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1 Living Room: Duet, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Kitchen: Squeezebox BOOM Bedroom: Second Boom Bathroom: Squeezebox Radio Ford Thunderbird: Duet, Mac Mini Ford Expedition: SB Touch, USB drive ------------------------------------------------------------------------ iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72307 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
