Great idea about the firewall entries - I will do that shortly but
wanted to ask a couple of questions first and to clarify a point about
the situation.

What is it that you see that makes you say that the 3483 comms are to a
port 3483 on a different system? Which log of mine do you see that? Are
you referring to the ip of 66.150.114.115:3483 (the local machine is
192.168.1.51)? If you are that is the ip of
nat.dc.squeezenetwork.com:3483 which from my ping is mysqueezebox.com.
If you're not referring to that then I'm not sure what. I only want to
make sure we're looking at the same thing and if I have a wrong log to
figure out why. Actually this is the only reference I ever see to 3483 -
could the call to mysqueezebox be always blocking the port? (sorry I
don't know what I'm talking about).

There is no log.conf file in the prefs folder - could this be because
the server has never actually started? On my "main" server I run 7.3.1
and I see this file so I see what you mean but it isn't there at all. Is
this file editable anyway - header says that "This file is autogenerated
by Slim::Utils::Log". I would need more help / instructions on doing
this step anyway (sorry I'm so needy).

Also, just to reiterate - the server never ever starts - it gets
shortcircuited by the fatal error.

I will proceed with a reinstall after dumping the firewall entries and
your subsequent steps except I don't know how to add the degug entires.

Thanks -
Tom
