I did my research before buying my first Squeezebox - and the open nature was a clincher. However, the core out-of-the-box offering has much more functionality than when I started - and I could imagine that if I was researching afresh now (without my current knowledge but scanning the main site) then I would still have bought and then later discovered that despite the BBC logo I still needed a free 3es-party plug-in to get the Listen Again content. At that point I would have breathed a sigh of relief. Knowing what I know now ...
