Hi, I'm an owner of an antiquated Slimp3 device, which I thought I'd dust off and take into use. Problem is, I can't get my slimp3 to talk to squeezeboxserver.
Actually, it worked once yesterday, but then I powered it off (using the remote's power button) and now, the following day, I can't get it to work no matter what I try. For awhile there the server was listing the slimp3 and pretended to play things when pressing play through the web interface, but there was no audio. It did say "Now playing" and the title on the slimp3 display. Also the remote would not work. This makes me think that the slimp3 -> squeezeboxserver communication is failing. However, I can currently ping the slimp3 from my server: I get a ping response back and there's a message displayed on the slimp3. So it's not a network issue (at least ICMP works, that is). The server and the slimp3 are on the same network, there are no firewalls between. The interconnecting switch is 1gigabit, but it should talk fine to the 10mbit slimp3 (and seems like it does, since the ping works). Here's the setup details: I have downloaded the latest slimp3 firmware and updated it. When I start my slimp3 up, it says "v2.3". I'm running the squeezeboxserver that comes with Debian 5 - here is the info from the Information tab: Version: 7.4.1 - r28947 @ Tue Oct 20 07:58:02 PDT 2009 Hostname: newcastle Server IP Address: 192.168.1.10 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8 Platform Architecture: i686-linux Perl Version: 5.10.0 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi MySQL Version: 5.0.51a-24+lenny2 Total Players Recognized: 0 The /etc/default/squeezeboxserver file has: SLIMOPTIONS="--charset=utf8 --httpaddr 192.168.1.10 --cliaddr 192.168.1.10 --playeraddr 192.168.1.10 --streamaddr 83.145.209.81" My slimp3 player is configured with the static IP address 192.168.1.9 (there are no conflicting IPs, I checked), netmask 255.255.255.0, currently gatewaye set to 0.0.0.0 (when it worked, it was set to my real gw 192.168.1.253, but now it doesn't seem to make any difference - anyway, the ping works...), and server at 192.168.1.10. No matter what I do, the web interface keeps saying "Your player was not found.". Any idea how to get it to talk to my slimp3? Any way to debug the player scanning process? Now that I think of it, the reason my slimp3 fell into disuse (many years ago) was because of similar problems. Could it be that my device is defective? I wish I had followed through then, it might've been covered by warranty then... I have an order for Squeezebox Touch, I hope I can get that to work easier than this old piece of hardware... -- Wizzu ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wizzu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36045 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74349 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
