Replying to my own post, with a bit more info. It looks like the slimp3 device is continuously querying for the IP network block's network address (this is on my server computer which runs squeezebox server):

Looking at the timestamps, these queries seem to happen a bit less than 2 seconds apart. My local IP network config is 192.168.1.0/255, so obviously there's no host on the .0 IP address at all. I don't understand why my slimp3 would be querying for it.
