According to the specs of the CV-1800, it has input level trim
controls, so you should be fine - no need to mess about with external
passive attenuators.

Start by turning the volume controls on both the Transporter and amp
right down, and start playing something. Then bring the TP's volume up
to maximum. Now slowly turn up the volume on the power amp until
playback is as loud as you'd ever want. Leave the amp's input level
control at that position, and then use the TP's volume control for
day-to-day adjustments.

PS. Cerwin-Vega as a company have a reputation of building products
that go very loud without too much finesse. Their speakers in particular
are renowned for being rather uncouth. I have no idea what their amps
are like, but bear in mind that they might be cut from the same cloth!
