Did you ever manage to get this resolved? I (unthinking) upgraded to
iTunes 5, and it seems I'm in the same boat. Even manually specifying
the location of the iTunes library XML file and the iTunes Music
folder, I get 0 albums, 0 artists, 0 tracks, and of course no
playlists. I tried the 9/19 nightly of 6.1.2, which had problems
running the build-perl-modules.pl. I tried the 9/19 nightly of 6.2,
which also didn't grok the iTunes library, and which liked to make lots
of duplicate entries (some single-artist, single-disc albums had 2-4
duplicates in the albums listing).

So, now I'm back to the official release of 6.1.1 for Linux, and no
playlists, but at least I don't have the junky listings of 6.2.

My suspicion is that XML format changed enough with iTunes 5 (to allow
playlist folders, which are really cool) that it breaks slimserver's
ability to parse it correctly.
