yes, transporter would output directly to your integrated preamp/amp. You'll need a computer at home running SqueezeboxServer (SbS) (with access to the drive with your music files). And you'll need a Local Area Network so that you can connect the transporter to the LAN either wired or wireless. Best situation is that both the transporter and the computer with SbS are wired to your LAN. 2nd best is that computer with SbS is wired to LAN (router) and Transporter is WIFI. WIFI can work really well if you have strong signal, etc.
You might also want to explore using FLAC (lossless) rather than WAV. Much better for tagging, etc., takes 1/2 the space, and is still LOSSLESS.
