First of all this is not critique, I've thought about doing similar things like this myself. I think I understand why you do this and I completely understand your frustration, but I'm not sure it will be good for the community and product on longer term. I think most community member sees exactly the same things as you express on your blog, and it's all very frustrating to all of us and I'm pretty sure this also includes all Logitech employees that are visible on these forums.
However, it feels like it would be better if we could find a way to handle this on this forum and on the wiki. It should be easy to make an announcement wiki page which the community could maintain on wiki.slimdevices.com, using this we can also improve the quality of the current wiki by adding more tips, trix and other stuff which people want to know about. I think everyone have write permissions to the wiki, so it should also make it possible for more than a single person to maintain it. People that want mail notifications, can easily subscribe to changes to a specific announcement wiki page. We could accomplish a lot if people from the community started to together improve the contents on wiki.slimdevices.com. Once again, it's not really critique to your idea with a separate blog, I'm just suggesting that there might be an alternative method to accomplish the same thing that would keep the community together instead of splitting it up on several sites. You are of course free to host this on your own blog site instead, but for the community and product I think it would be better if you handled it trough the official wiki here at wiki.slimdevices.com. It's fantastic to see how much senior members in this community cares for this product, Slim Devices really succeeded to unite people in a unique way and made them care for their product. It's so frustrating to see everything going downhill and I'm really hoping the trend will change soon because the Touch and Radio are really excellent products with a promising future. Even though it's frustrating to see what Logitech management, sales and support organisation does and doesn't do, I think for the long term success of this community and the products which we all love, it would be preferred if we focused on trying to find ways to help Logitech. Logitech sales, support and management organization will learn, we just have to give them some time. The focus in the future will definitely be different than what it has been in the past, but I'm pretty sure they are going to learn that this community is good and important for their products, we just have to give them some time. Also remember that most employees from Logitech available on these forum originally comes from Slim Devices and have the exact same feeling for these products and this community as we do, the people in the management and sales organization have a different background and need some time to learn. Yes, I know it's frustrating. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78013 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
