Ok. Like this? 1: cable modem (utility room) -> D-Link (kitchen) -> Linksys (another room) Or like this? 2: cable modem (utility room) -> Linksys (another room) -> D-Link (kitchen) Ideally what you want is everything on one subnet. So you don't want two routers. If #1 above is correct, then it sounds like you don't need a router in this room. If you need to connect multiple wired PCs and devices then you only need a network switch in this room. (If there's only a single device, you could just run an ethernet cable from the D-Link located in the kitchen.) If #2 is correct then you want to use the D-Link only as a wireless access point and not a router. To do that: - Use the Linksys as your DHCP server. Disable the DHCP server in the D-Link. - Connect the D-Link to the Linksys by connecting between one its LAN ports (not the WLAN or 'Internet' port) to one of the LAN ports on the Linksys. The D-Link should end up with a 192.168.0.x address and everything attached to it should also. You may want to give the Linksys a static IP address in its configuration so that you can always find it easily. If the D-Link is 192.168.0.1, try using 192.168.0.2 for the Linksys, which will most likely be outside of the DHCP address pool being assigned dynamically. -- JJZolx Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78172 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
