I had cut a rectangle opening in the face of the wooden case to accommodate the squeezebox panel. After attaching the faceplate to the case, I used some epoxy to put metal knobs on top of those that the squeezebox has. The knobs came from a 1940s era Chevy dashboard. They are attahced to the main dial, the volume dial, and the power button. They all function just as well as if the dials didn't have them on.
The lower row of dials is decorative, to cover up original holes in the case. I've always liked the sort of warm orange glow that comes from the vacuum tubes in old radios. I decided to mimic that by installing a few amber 3mm LEDs into the decorative knobs. They are attached to 3V batteries inside the case. The last photo has the glow in them, but it's actually quite a bit brighter in person... +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: 4756833446_7f2404e08d.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10241| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- danicakk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ danicakk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38874 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80168 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
