I think you have the quick and dirty part backward. When the Boom was introduced, the six preset buttons were simply tied to the first six favorites. That was quick and dirty. If someone changes a preset at any Boom in the house, then they've also overwritten one of the favorites. When the Radio came out it was determined that _most_ people expect presets to behave like, well, the presets of a radio. When Mom sets a preset on the radio in her Accord, it doesn't also change the preset in Dad's Explorer. When Junior sets a radio preset on his bedroom boombox, it doesn't also change a preset on the stereo in Sissy's bedroom. So the tradeoff was having centralized presets that are set on all devices in the house vs. the flexibility to act like traditional radio presets and allow each device to have its own set. With the new method you can go around the house and set up your six presets to match on all SB devices with preset buttons. It's not convenient, but it is doable. With the old method there was no way for two people using the same server to have different presets on their individual Squeezeboxes, and anyone changing a preset on 'their' SB will change it for everyone in the house. (Which is fine if you live alone, I guess.) > of course presets should be editable in the web-UI for each player That would be convenient, and it should particularly be doable for the Boom, where they're stored only on the server. For the SqueezePlay based Radio, things aren't quite as simple, as the presets are stored on the device, not the server. Still doable, though. Probably a good candidate for a plugin. -- JJZolx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79154 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
