Hi talvola, which version of the server is installed? SqueezePad officially only supports 7.4 and 7.5. Maybe you have an older version on your NAS ? But I'm pretty sure one of my Beta-Testers also had 7.3 and the playlists worked (he only had trouble with context-menu)
If not even the covers are updating we might have another issue, there is one open bug-report where the server sends bogus data (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16404). For me it only helps to restart the server then. As you have your own server you can send me debug data (support(at)squeezepad.com) so we can analyze what happens quite easy.
