<reposted from Logitech forums> Ralphy,
I've been trying for the past four days to register and post at forums.slimdevices.com without sucess. Anyway, I'm seeing an issue with squeezeslave 1.0.210 (and v0.9) where, once invoked (on a x86_64 Fedora 12 platform using ALSA), squeezeslave blocks other applications from playing audio. A description of the issue can be found on the mythtv-users list (posted by Gabe Rubin): http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/460472 A quick strace of the squeezeslave executable suggests that whilst waiting to play audio, squeezeslave keeps a filehandle on a /dev/snd/pcmXXXX device open. All other open()'s are close()'d in short order, just this one remains open. Could this offer an explanation as to why squeezeslave is blocking audio output from other apps (MythTV in my and Gabe's case)? It's beyond my somewhat meagre s/w knowledge to track this open() down to a specific line in the source, but I thought I'd pass on what I'd found to-date. I'm currently having to invoke squeezeslave on-demand and close it before using MythTV. Consequently, I'd love to have solution that would enable me to daemonize squeezeslave on startup and not have to worry about it after that. I look forward to hearing back from you, Mike _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
