On the iPad I have noticed that sometimes when using the search box, iPeng will not pull from the current view to show the search results. When this happens my first impression is usually that search was not launched by hitting the "search" keyboard key properly, or that the search term is mistyped. So I hit the search box again. And again, ... until I realize I am not in the Search mode but another mode.
I think this is a usability bug.
