You handed them the data they needed on a plate to catch a criminal and they acted on it.
Compare this to my experience here in the UK. Someone created a fraudulent direct debit on my bank account to pay for their Sky subscription. The DD mandate had a reference number which Sky confirmed was the person's account number. Sky were in a position to identify the fraudster to the police. (The Data Protection Act meant that they could not, of course, give the identity to me). I phoned the police to give them the information they needed to apprehend the fraudster and you know what? They were completely uninterested.
