I suddenly have 3 x V3 Squeezebox Classic players with this problem when trying to connect via a wired connection.
Have had the first Squeezebox Classic for 4 or 5 years approx. Brought a second, used Squeezebox Classic around 12 months ago. Both have worked without a problem in the same building, separated by a couple of switches and at least 40 metres of LAN cable for the last year. Have found that wireless connections with these units steaming .wav files is unreliable so have always used wired Ethernet. Purchased a third used Squeezebox Classic a couple of weeks ago and set it up at a location 100 kilometres from the other 2 Squeezebox Classics. All were working fine until arriving at the location with the first 2 units 6 days ago and finding that both units would not connect via wired Ethernet with both units displaying "Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection" when attempting to connect via a wired connection. Steps taken trying to resolve this have been; Reset both to Factory by holding down the + key on the remote and applying power to the units. Re flash firmware to both by holding down the brightness switch on the remote and applying power to the units. Checking that the wireless card is seated correctly. Deleting the players from the squeezebox account. Contacting Logitech Support, (no response as yet) Returned to the second location a few days later and turned on the newest acquisition and streamed internet radio for a while and then connected to a local squeezenetwork server on a Win XP machine and listened for a while longer. Turned the unit off after some time and noticed "Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection" displayed as the power button on the remote was pressed. Left the unit and checked the next morning and it turned on using the power button on the remote with its static ip and connected to internet radio ok. Turned it off and went to work for the day. Turned this third latest unit on again tonight and it streamed internet radio again for a few minutes and suddenly displayed "Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection". Following steps taken; Factory reset the unit Reflashed the firmware and still get the same message when trying to connect via wired ethernet. Firmware on all 3 players is 132 Have tried the latest squeezenetwork on debian and Win XP Pro. The wired cables are good and have been checked with several other devices. DHCP server on both LANs is working and there are no network IP conflicts. Have tried several different network switches and routers, one cable isp and 2 adsl isp's. All 3 units will still connect via wireless but wireless connections are not satisfactory or desired in these applications. Surely the odds of 3 units, separated geographically like this, all failing with the exact same symptoms must be related to recent software/firmware? I have raised a support request with logitech 3 days ago and updated with developments the last 2 days and have not yet had a response? I would really appreciate some suggestions from Logitech support, if this is still at all possible, before attempting any other diagnosis. I have spent hours on this already and actually purchased a new Duet and a Touch thinking that the first 2 had failed before now finding that the 3rd squeezebox classic at a different location, using unique isp, lan and equipment had developed the same symptoms. I now don't want to risk turning either of the 2 new units on until this issue is resolved. Any suggestions, or is there anything I have missed, or could try? Thanks in advance.. -- smithw ------------------------------------------------------------------------ smithw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44731 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86169 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
