Erland,

Personally, I have never felt a need for anything more than the
infra-red remote control. I have been completely satisfied using it.
Downloading the Logitech Controller app was out sheer curiosity.

But I think that the most compelling reason for a person to buy an app
to control their Squeezebox, from an portable touch pad device, would
be to have a user interface that is consistent with device's operating
system user interface (iOS, Android, whatever it may be)

So in short, an iOS device should have a user interface which is
similar to iOS's native interface. And probably these users are used to
using iTunes and having its features eg. easy to install app that has
all bells/whistles working out of the box, without having to
install/enable plugins.

I loved your Trackstat plugin, but regular Squeezecenter/Squeezebox
server updates later it breaks, and I gave up after having to reinstall
it.
Features that allow star ratings (ala trackstat plugin), automatic
album artwork retrieval, cover flow, play similar artists/genres/music
ala Squeezescrobbler, retrieval of lyrics, artist
biography/discography, critic's reviews, Youtube links, Facebook
integration (ala Shazam), direct download of music (or "synchronize")
to their iOS device.

Perhaps individuals could get together an form a development team,
rather than go at it alone.
