Well, to be honest, I don't know.

It seems that the SBS should be able to transcode to different formats
(not only MP3), see

Quality will be used if it is between 0-9.
Otherwise, quality "9" is assumed.

Bitrate can be any number and is set to "0" if not defined.

The actual interpretation of Quality/Bitrate is probably done by the
chosen encoder (LAME, FLAC, OGG)...
