Yes - that's exactly what I thought. I've had similar problems occasionally with Squeezebox in the past, especially when playing with Softsqueeze or Squeezeslave.
But the latest version now seems great. I use a Seagate Dockstar for my server (kudos to squeezeplug.de!) and it struggled over the phone system with flacs - but the suggestion of using Shine just worked.
