Of course powered speakers will work, but this is about being portable. If I want to use my SB2 outside, using your suggestion, I would have to carry: 1 Squeezebox 1 remote 2 speakers 2 power bricks speaker cables and then find a power outlet with 2 plugs, connect everything, and then break it all down when I want to locations again.
