Just wanted to pass on my experience as it might help someone else. I have a Netgear WNR2000v2 attached to my PC on the 2nd floor and a Touch on the 1st floor of a century old house. Recently I have been having buffering issues w the Touch and my local music library. SBS Control Panel/Information has been showing signal strength of 25-35%. I tried moving the router around within the room to little positive effect. Yesterday I put the router on the floor and turned it on its side. Since then signal strength has been 45-58%. Its not great but it has resolved the buffering issue.
Next is to try out some Netgear Powerline adapters from 3rd floor to the basement.
