if you're having buffering problems, it is not likely related to the use of 7.6.x. There's something else going on. I doubt 7.7 would solve this issue for you and I wouldn't recommend using it yet as your main server (I only use 7.7 for a bit of test on my office machine....not where it really matters to me).
My advice is to get the server wired, then this removes any wifi issues. If you still have buffering after that, then more diagnosis will be required.
