I haven't changed anything in the requirements/permissions since 0.9.6.2, so it should work. It only needs a touchscreen, Wifi and Android 1.5+. The Market developer console also lists the GT-I9000 as supported device for SqueezeCommander... Strange... Have you tried to complete uninstall and reinstall SqueezeCommander? Or you could try to contact Google Market support, maybe they can help...
