After years of resistance, my new car really only supports IPod as a usable music storage device so I gave in and bought an iPod and installed iTunes. Ugh! It kinda works - I imported my music directory into iTunes library without actually having to import the music, and then used iTunes to sync to the iPod. I would never use iTunes to manage my real library, but have just re-organised a load of directories and tags - generally moved stuff around and renamed a lot of tracks as a result of cleaning tags. The problem now is that although I can re-run "add folder to library" - all that does is add new entries for the revised file names - there appears to be no way to remove library entries for file names that no longer exist! I'm looking for an iTunes equivalent of MIP's "refresh tracks" function. There appear to be a few tools out there - what do people recommend for this? My music is all backed up but I am concerned that if I (for example) removed the library entries then iTunes will physically delete music also. I have 30k tracks - doing this manually is not an option.
