Hi Ben, just gave your App a go and have to say I really like it! It's a well thought of UI and I'm 'feeling home' instantly. It's also a very good quality for a first release (sent you a crash report, but had it only once).
You have a very different style compared to SqueezeCommander (which is good). Also I love that your App (for some reason I don't know yet) feels 'simpler' than SqueezeCommander which took me a bit longer to get used to (it took me some time to get warm with the iPeng-iPhone navigation style, that SqueezeCommander copied). I don't think that you need to 'hide' behind SqueezeCommander with your price level, you do have a valid alternative and users will need to decide what style they like most.
