all old versions here:  You might start with 7.6.2 and see if that
restores your function...

And do make sure you haven't turned on "track gain". That is, if you
are playing a gapless album and you have track gain volume adjustment
turned on under audio in player settings, you'll get a slight change
when moving from track to track.  I use "smart gain" so that "album
gain" values are used when playing a complete album.
