The 'conclusion on the Slimdevices forum' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?94280-Internet-radio-problem-with-v7-71-SPK-not-with-v7-7-1-SSODS&p=698577&viewfull=1#post698577) is that Synology has not properly patched faad and flac. Yesterday I have submitted a support ticket to Synology.
