I think the introduction of the Touch was an attempt to fill a niche with the non-techy part of the public. I never really understood why Logitech didn't produce their own NAS-type music server box, but the Touch at least promised to offer direct attachment of a local music library. I haven't tried that personally (only had a Touch for about 9 days! - an I had LMS 7.7.2 up and running), but I understand TinyLMS with a local HD was problematic for some.
