Somehow I had missed this thread when posting about my problems. I am using Mac OS Tiger with Airport Extreme base stations (two, set up as a WDS network).
I just tried upgrading from WEP to WPA2, and my SB wouldn't connect to the network. Changing down slightly to WPA got a connection. The Airport Extrem has three varieties of WPA permitted, namely WPA (TKIP) only, WPA2 (AES-CCMP only), and the third setting (which is what I have it set as) offers both possibilities. I haven't as yet checked whether I can connect if I reset to WPA2 only.
