Try skipping commercials or pausing a DVR with a smartphone remote. It is too slow to find the right spot to touch and too slow to react. This is a problem even with the new Harmony Touch, which doesn't have hard buttons for skip, FF, and RW. I can't envision a non-button technological solution for that short of a motion controller. Wave arm, skip commercial. Leap controller, maybe? Wii?
