Thanks both I shall use Clear Cache more often in future.
What I want is to minimize the number of Clear & Rescans as my library is 400GB, so these take at 1 to 2 hours. I suppose alternatively I could embed all my album art , but this would be a Herculean task unless automated. Don't think Foobar2000 can batch process this sort of operation.
