Great!  I really appreciate the links.  The SOtM looks interesting...
maybe a bit more than I wanted to spend just as part of a "fun project",
but maybe I'll save up for it.

So, I wasn't missing something obvious?  What are they trying to do that
the VAMP solution does not accomodate?

I appreciate the info on the M2Tech HiFace 2.  This side of computer
audio is relatively new to me.  A side I'm being forced to learn about
since my turnkey Squeezebox solutions are obviously drying up.  I really
like my Transporter, and was even considering buying a spare.  But
something like the VAMP + SOtM dX-USB-HD could probably do just as good,
for much less.
