My main setup is not too different from yours. I have 7 zones in my (actually pretty small) house. And some of these are fed by a single amplifier with a speaker selector box (so are either on or off, but obviously playing the same thing; these tend to be in bathroom with ceiling speakers, wife's walkin closet/dressing room area, etc.). These tend to be on for things like morning radio, early evening news radio, npr, etc. But other areas can be different things playing with different amps (e.g., main living room with main 2 channel system/speakers, dining area, etc). So not counting the bedside Boom (which is self contained) and one radio for moving around (porch, patio, etc.), I have only 3 amplifiers even though I have 7 zones (and one of those amps is also the amp for my AV sytem). My signature shows the various sb players I have. I control everything with ipeng on iphone or ipad or squeezepad on ipad.
