LMS has a two stage analysis or URLS/playlist and perhaps it is not using your DNS (IIRC years ago openDNS was used) - perhap you should check by enabling logging for network.asyncdns
A workaround may be to avoid playlist and minimise DNS lookups by using the real BBC URLs BBC has many WMA URLs inside a playlist. The mulitple URLs are to provide load balancing. Below are example of one of the URLs for UK and non UK users.
