I have a set-up consisting of all android devices acting as squeeze
boxes using Squeezeplayer and a linux SqueezeServer. This works very
well (thanks!!), except on 2 devices which would disappear from the list
of available players. As soon as I went to the device the player would
reconnect. I've tried all sorts of fixes including tasker, and other
apps which keep services alive, but this has not worked.

Eventually I realised that these were the 2 devices which are not always
running on mains power, as I had put them on a timer to top up the
batteries (they are tablets, + rechargeable speakers) every few hours,
as they do not need a constant power source.

After removing the timers, and giving the devices constant power the
problem disappeared.....

So my question is, is there anyway to stop this behaviour other than
supplying a constant power source? Could this be a wakelock flag in the
program which stops android hibernating the service on battery power? Or
by setting a flag like "START_STICKY"?

I appreciate its a small thing, but I hate to waste power when its not
needed!!

Many thanks!!

NB: Thanks to this great app, I have multi-room audio running built from
retired android devices, at zero cost... Awesome!
