I remember you were pretty active a while on these forums and a member with interesting posts. Welcome back Patt! I want to report that 7.8.0 works nicely on a lubuntu 14.04 beta. Since it will become a LTS version and 7.8.0 seems to have the right perl versions you may think about using it.
