Swings and roundabouts gold wont corrode but it's softer than nickel allyos and could wear away (they are actually in many cases a thin layer of gold over nickel ! ) . On the other hand i've never noticed any corrosion on plain conectors ?
Pro stuff use a diverse range of alloys of nickel and others but thats because the weaar and tear of repeated unplugin . If the best part given board constraints and price was the nickel one and it's more robust i liked that .
