I think this equipment is beyond the point where it's thrifty to do repairs. Basically, the likelihood that a given integrated circuit dies within a given time frame increases with the amount of heat it has been exposed to in the past.
So, I wouldn't be surprised if your CPU dies soon. Or your RAM. And you're starting to pay premium prices for this old legacy hardware (e.g., importing one of the mobos mentioned by Apesbrain to the UK will cost about GBP 25 in shipping plus GBP 13 in taxes and import duties). Same goes for your IDE hard disks. One of them will have a head crash sooner or later. Then you'll have to spend extra time searching for a suitable replacement. Why not get a new system with a new hard drive? A 1 TB 3.5" hard drive costs about GBP 40. IMO, it's just not economical anymore to repair that system. Or, if there is an economical way, it involves scoring used parts off ebay at a bargain price. That way, when the next part dies, you have less to regret. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ poing's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63617 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103062 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
