Things have gotten exponentially better since disconnecting "always
connected" pi when it wasn't being used. Seeing as it wasn't costing me
much to keep it powered up all the time I just kept it on... I didn't
think for a second it would cause issues with syncing if it wasn't being
used (by me and the amp). My main thought was it's something on my pc
that's causing the server take back seat and stop the audio. Thanks
tcutting for making me think about "what you're hearing are the players
struggling to stay in sync". I've had many times in the past when I was
using softsqueeze and the other (not always connected) pi and getting
many cut outs or drops in the music. At other times when running
everything at once (both pi's and the softsqueeze) it's played
flawlessly. Guess assumptions got the better of me. I've given up
looking for this solution many times in the past year I've had this
setup. Glad someone could help me get to the bottom of it.
Just as I was typing this the music cut out again. I pulled the plug on
the "always connected" (but not used) pi and solved the issue once
again.
Cheers
