I figured the highest risk of data loss for me, was HD failure. So I put all my audio files on a RAID1 Linux box, in the attic (out of sight from thieves). Doesn't cover me from a virus deleting all my files, or fire, but it's better than nothing. I figure if I have a fire, I will have more things to worry than my music collection.
RAID1 on Linux was easy to set up - just 2 IDE drives of the same size plugged into the standard controller. If one drive fails, I get an e-mail to warn me (in theory anyway!)
