Yes it is about 30s and possibly longer if the audio is more compressed
it can probably be less than 30s with WAV I think the 30s approximation
is for flac of CD resolution .

The squeezebox control bypasses the buffer so play pause etc are instant
to you , but the buffer is there to ensure stability due to network
isssues and sound quality ( it's just like the file was there in the
squeezebox itself ,feeding the output ).

But with the WAV input plugin you get a second player feeding the
squeezebox system and you notice how big the buffer is .

You can try this. If you have an Ethernet connected squeezebox , in the
middle of a song pull out the cable and wait .

I never used WAV in plugin but it has the possibility to route any sound
on the computer to the LMS server . It's seems a bit fiddly to set up
,but it also seems flexible and can probably do what you want .
