Old Squeezebox models only speak SlimProto which is a totally non-scaleable, stateful, bi-directional protocol requiring a permanent streaming connection. It's totally fine in a local setup with just a few players because it's very responsive but running it as an internet service is not exactly ideal. This is probably also the reason for the occasional outages MySB has been seeing in the past and it requires an expensive infrastructure.

Would not work for all services, though. Don't expect Spotify to work on a Transporter that way, for example. Plus: Logitech would have to do that. > > Doesn't the Touch come with a built-in LMS? Should work, we haven't tested the ARM builds of the plugin on the Touch but currently I don't really see a reason why it should break. Since the Touch doesn't have a plugin installer you'd have to install it manually through SSH, though. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
