It seems quite a few SB3s have a loose / incorrectly soldered / corroding power socket. You could try to jiggle/rotate the power plug while watching the screen or the optical port at the same time for signs of power up. Otherwise I suppose some component would have died in the SB3. In this case there are a few documented repairs in the forums, you might find someone able to repair the unit. Or sell it as is on Ebay. Just don't send it to recycling...
