Is one using Max2play or is one using piCoreplayer. Google a bit more. Basic: SSH into pi. type Alsamixer, press enter. Select card (think it's F6) Adjust volume to reqired level. Save setting (google a bit) I think there is a CML instruction to set volume to 0db (or something) but I'm not sure if that is foe the iQAudio card only.
