No replay gain works equally on both digital and analog out .

What I don't clearly remember is how it's coexist with the fixed volume
at 100% setting .

it could be the clipping protection kicking in .
This is not that exact , the subjective experience of music you know .
Are the replay gain tags made with the same tool at the same time ?
Things like the target volume have changed I think ? Or at least there
is now a standard .
