True - but my little Pogoplug was struggling with ALAC lossless files as, I think, they were transcoded for streaming to the squeezelite player on the pi. Also: flac has included checksums, which makes maintenance much easier (detect bit-rot). So after converting everything to ALAC, and reverting to a backup after some weeks trying, I will stick with flac.
